Big Hit Entertainment is currently preparing a drama about BTS. This statement was made after Big Hit Entertainment held a meeting as well as a presentation in determining the status and direction of their business development in the future.
The meeting was held on Wednesday (21/8) that morning and was attended by Co-CEO Bang Shi-hyuk and Yoon Seok-joo as well as beNX President Seo Woo-seok.
“We are currently preparing a drama based on the BTS Universe with a well-known production studio in Korea. The drama is planned to be released in mid-2020, ”said Big Hit.
Seven members BTS, RM, Jin, Suga, J-hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook will not be acting in the drama. Big Hit Entertainment said they would use actors to portray BTS members.
The drama will tell the lives of seven teenage boys who first meet in the BTS Universe. The drama’s storyline is based on the story of seven BTS members when they were young.
Big Hit Entertainment announced they plan to “greet” fans and the public as a whole through many media such as webtoons, novels, games, animation, comic books and dramas. They also plan to combine artist stories from other agencies.
Previously, Big Hit Entertainment KaptenPoker had released three BTS films to the big screen, namely Burn the Stage: The Movie, Love Yourself in Seoul and Bring the Soul: The Movie. The films tell the story of BTS’s journey in carrying out a world tour. In the final film, Bring the Soul: The Movie, Big Hit added an intimate interview with the members.
BTS also has their own variety shows like BTS GO !, Run BTS! and BTS: Bon Voyage.
Recently the Korean television channel, SBS, announced that it would broadcast the latest BTS variety show, a special edition of Chuseok (Korean Thanksgiving), BTS Variety Chronicles. The variety show, which is planned to air on September 12-14, will broadcast BTS’s best moments when appearing on SBS.
In 2019, the boyband made by Big Hit also released the game BTS World, which was developed by Takeone Company Corp with Netmarble. In the game released July 26 fans can take over the role of BTS manager and work on developing the group’s career.
Until mid-2019, Big Hit Entertainment has made a profit of up to 200.1 billion won or around Rp.2,372 trillion. That figure is close to the annual profit Big Hit Entertainment made in 2018.
